Rickshaw run for charity

In December, Avicenna Sales Manager, Dipesh Vaja, completed a 2600 km journey from north to south India by tuk-tuk. Dipesh and his travel companions, including Avicenna members Ash and Dinesh Tosar, were responsible for the upkeep of their tuk-tuk along the way. Best described as a glorified lawnmower, keeping tuk-tuks road worthy is no easy task as they are prone to break downs. Their adventure started in Jaisalmer with no set itinerary. Part of the challenge is to plan your own route through the Indian states! Navigating the crazy Indian roads is notoriously difficult with not only other vehicles to consider, but many cows, carts and even elephants. Luckily for the team who have no mechanical experience, help is never far away in India and they made it, with the tuk-tuk in one piece, safely to Kochi in just 14 days. So why did they do this? To raise funds for Cool Earth, a charity dedicated to protection of the world’s rain-forests through working with indigenous people.
