In an effort to lift the January blues we celebrated the hard work of the pharmacy trade press at our annual Media Awards ceremony. Over 100 guests gathered at The Royal Society of Chemistry to mark the tenth anniversary of the event, enjoying lunch catching up with colleagues from across the industry.
Nigel Praities from the Pharmaceutical Journal was crowned Pharmacy Writer of the Year for his intelligent journalism, the judges being particularly impressed with his interview with Keith Ridge.
Sasa Jankovic was recognised as Freelancer of the Year, a new and highly popular category for 2019. Regarded highly by editors and readers alike, Sasa has a proven track record in delivering powerful stories that generate debate.
Pharmacy Magazine won the title of Best Educational Support for its well-researched thoughtful training for the whole pharmacy team.
Best Newcomer went to Isabel Finch, a journalist with only 9 months experience under her belt, who had managed to impress the judges with her article on the errors in the reporting of fraud in pharmacy.
The final award of the day went to The Pharmacist for Best Support for Independent Pharmacists. The team were commended for their ability to empathise with their independent pharmacy audience and for the War on Shortages campaign.
Thank you to all of our sponsors (Cavendish Corporate Finance, Coversure, Charles Russell Speechleys, and Datamatics) for making the event possible, and of course to all of our judging panel, made up of Avicenna members, staff and sponsors for giving up their precious time to review the entries.
